Each lodge has its own pricing structure however each lodge has fixed fees that it must pay to the District and Grand lodge in Johannesburg and in turn they must pay the united grand lodge of England (UGLE).

Typically costs consist of an initiation fee, an annual membership fee, dining fees for each meeting and then of course the bar bill, raffle tickets etc. on any lodge meetings that you attend.

The structure of Swaziland lodge is as follows:
Initiation fee E3100.00
Annual Lodge subscription E1100.0
So on first day you will pay 4200.00

After this typically you will be asked for a charity donation at the end of the meeting, this is whatever you can afford if anything. E5 - E100 is quite normal. You may then spend E100.00 on your meal and anywhere between E20 and E100 on raffle tickets and prizes.

So as you can see it soon mounts up. A mason who has been initiated should budget around E250 - E350 a month to enjoy this hobby.

Before the initiation you need to attend an interview and have the recommendation of 2 or more Masons. To get to know masons please feel free to turn up to the lodge on Esser Street in Manzini which is next to Dups any Saturday between 1.30 and 3pm
If you join the Masons in the Making group you will have a "heads up" whenever we hold a social gathering.
